Fostering of asylum seeking children

Supporting Asylum Seekers from Gaza – a template letter to your MP

At Banya, we have been devastated to witness the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Creating positive change for unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors is a part of our work, and we’ve created a simple letter so that together, we can make real change for children in care.

We’ve drafted a template Letter to MP which you can download, fill in and email to your local MP. Find your local MP here, you can also see the written letter below.

Dear [MP’s Name],

My name is [your name] and I am writing to you today as a resident in your constituency regarding Palestian Refugees that are seeking asylum in the UK.

This matter is important to me because I believe everyone has a right to a safe place to live.   Many Palestinians have lost their homes and family members through the war in Gaza and it is our obligation as British citizens and members of the United Nations who subscribe to the United Declaration of Human Rights to offer asylum.

I am sure that this is of interest to you as this is a humanitarian crisis, that needs your support.

Please could you:

  • Write to the Home Secretary voicing our concerns about the safety of Palestinian refugees and what the plan is if they are to seek asylum in this country.
  • Let the general public know what Palestian resettlement scheme will be put in place for the United Kingdom. When making this scheme, I recommend that you look to the social care sector who have the infrastructure and knowledge to action this scheme safely.

In your response I would like you to outline the ways you intend to address this on my behalf. If you’re unable to address this personally, I would like to request that you escalate my letter to the relevant Minister or department.

If I can provide you with any more information on this matter, or if you would like to arrange to discuss it with me, please do let me know.

Yours faithfully,

[Your name]
