Fostering Financial Support

That Helps You Focus On What Truly Matters

Financial Support For Foster Carers

Fostering changes lives, but it also comes with practical day to day costs. Our allowances are designed to help you meet these needs confidently, so you can focus on giving a child safety, routine and a caring home.

At the same time, we’re clear about one thing: fostering should never be driven by finances. People choose to foster because they want to make a difference. The financial support simply ensures that money isn’t a barrier to providing the right care.

How Much Do Foster Carers Get Paid?

Foster carer allowances vary depending on your experience, the needs of the child, and the type of placement. Every situation is different, which is why allowances are tailored to each carer and each child.

As a guide:

  • You can earn up to £948 per week
  • New carers usually start from around £437.50 per week

These fostering payments help cover the everyday costs of caring — from food and clothing to school activities and family routines — and ensure you can provide the stability a child deserves.

The Ampofos:

An Example Family

The Ampofo family have been fostering with Banya for around two years. They currently care for two siblings aged 3 and 6. Their weekly fostering allowance helps cover essentials like food, clothing, increased household bills, school activities, and the small but important things that help the children feel settled, such as family outings.

For the Ampofos, the allowance isn’t an incentive; it’s practical support that helps them provide a safe and nurturing environment.
