From 12th to 25th May, Banya is proud to join in Foster Care Fortnight 2025 — the UK’s biggest campaign dedicated to raising awareness of fostering. This year’s theme, “The Power of Relationships,” couldn’t be more fitting.
At Banya, we know that it’s relationships that change lives. The bond between a foster carer and a child. The support and encouragement of a supervising social worker. The friendships shared between carers. The ongoing connection with birth families. These relationships are the thread that runs through every fostering story, creating safety and belonging.
To mark this special fortnight, we’re excited to be releasing three video interviews, each offering a personal and powerful insight into the world of fostering:
- A former foster child shares their story and reflects on the relationships that made a lasting difference in their life.
- One of our foster carers speaks about the bonds they’ve built and what fostering has meant to them.
- A supervising social worker offers their perspective on supporting carers and children, and the importance of trust and connection.
- Nyasha, our founder, speaks about why relationships are central to fostering and how they’ve inspired Banya’s mission from the beginning. (Read our blog on how Nyasha went from foster mum to founding one of the UK’s leading fostering agencies.)
These interviews are honest, moving, and full of wisdom — showing just how life-changing strong, supportive relationships can be.
Thanking Our Foster Carers
We’re also holding two special appreciation meals to say a heartfelt thank you to our amazing foster carers from across the country.
One event will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Croydon, London, welcoming carers from our southern regions, while the second will be held at a northern venue for carers based in the East Anglia, Midlands and Yorkshire areas.
Both gatherings will offer a chance to relax, share stories, and feel appreciated for the incredible work foster carers do every day. Our carers will be presented with certificates, flowers, and trophies to honour the time and dedication they’ve given to Banya.
Stay Connected
Throughout Foster Care Fortnight, we’ll be sharing lots of engaging content on our social media channels — including stories and downloads for anyone interested in learning more about fostering. Whether you’re just curious or actively exploring the idea of becoming a foster carer, there’ll be plenty of friendly, informative resources to support you.
At Banya, we know that fostering isn’t just about providing a home — it’s about building relationships that last a lifetime. And during Foster Care Fortnight, we’re proud to celebrate those connections and the incredible people who make them possible.
