Dolores and Jose are proud receivers of the Fostering Network Award, for outstanding commitment to meeting the needs of children in their care and providing a safe and nurturing family home to all the young people who have come to live with them.
Dolores and Jose have fostered several unaccompanied asylum-seeking children over the years. Their nomination recognises their support of young people in maintaining their own cultural identities, while teaching them about British culture and the English language.
Their supervising social worker Verna said: “Delores and Jose always go the extra mile to achieve the best outcomes for the children under their care”, a testament to their passion and dedication toward fostering.
Delores and Jose demonstrate the strong characteristics of kindness and perseverance necessary to care for young people, reflecting Banya’s ethos of ensuring children in care are given opportunities to achieve success.
The Fostering Excellence Awards were held in October 2023 to recognise the achievements of foster carers across the UK. The Fostering Network is the UK’s leading fostering charity and membership organisation, bringing together everyone who is involved in the lives of fostered children to make foster care the very best it can be.
