If you’re reading this, it might be because you’ve been feeling unsupported, unheard, or unsure about your current fostering agency. Perhaps you’ve been frustrated with a lack of guidance, felt that training hasn’t matched the needs of the children you care for, or simply feel your dedication hasn’t been recognised. Maybe you’re looking for a fresh challenge, a different approach, or a more responsive team around you. Whatever the reason, it’s normal to reach a point where you want to make a change.
At Banya, we understand that step can feel daunting. Changing agencies is more than paperwork — it’s about trust, reassurance, and making sure your family and the children in your care are supported throughout the process. That’s why we focus on making it as straightforward and stress-free as possible.
Becoming Part of the Banya Family
Joining Banya fostering agency means becoming part of a family that values your experience and supports you in practical, meaningful ways. From the moment you get in touch, we focus on listening to your needs, answering your questions, and helping your household feel comfortable with the transition.
Our approach is responsive and personal. We offer guidance tailored to your placements, access to training that strengthens your skills, and support from a team that genuinely understands fostering. Being part of the Banya family means you’re supported, valued, and equipped to continue the work you love, without feeling alone or under-resourced.
How the Transfer Process Works
We manage the transfer process on your behalf, taking care to make it as smooth as possible. If you don’t currently have children in placement, the process is straightforward and can be completed efficiently.
If you do have children in placement, we’ll arrange a Protocol Meeting early on. This meeting brings together your family, the child’s social worker, the local authority, and a member of our team to ensure the child’s needs are considered and their care remains consistent throughout the transfer.
We aim to make the process as quick and painless as possible. On average, transferring to Banya takes around four to six months, but we work hard to manage timelines efficiently so you can continue fostering in a supportive environment without unnecessary delays. Your current agency is obliged to provide information such as your fostering file, which reduces the amount of work you’ll need to do and makes the process far less intrusive than your first assessment.
From your initial conversation with us, we guide you through each step of the fostering journey — from your application, to assessment, panel, and final approval — ensuring you always know what to expect and that your family is supported along the way.
Supporting You and the Children in Your Care
If you’re transferring with children already placed with you, our priority is their wellbeing. The Protocol Meeting ensures everyone involved is on the same page, and that the child’s care plan is respected throughout the transition. We’ll work closely with you, the local authority, and your current agency to make sure children experience as little disruption as possible.
Even if you don’t have children in placement, we’ll support you through the paperwork, assessments, and home visits — keeping the process clear, manageable, and as quick as possible so you can focus on what matters most: fostering.
