LGBTQ drop in event Leicaster

Thinking About Fostering? Come Along to Our LGBTQ+ Drop-In Event

Have you ever thought about fostering, but aren’t quite sure where to start? Or maybe you just want to know a bit more about what it’s really like? If so, we’d love to see you at our upcoming LGBTQ+ fostering drop-in session in Leicester.

This relaxed, informal event is open to anyone in the LGBTQ+ community who’s curious about fostering. Whether you’re single, in a couple, already a parent or just starting to think about family, fostering could be a way to make a life-changing difference.

At Banya, we know that LGBTQ+ carers play a vital role in fostering, and we’re committed to making sure you feel every bit as welcomed and supported as anyone else who chooses to open their home to a child.

What to expect

This is a chance to come and have an open chat in a safe and welcoming space. During the session we’ll:

  • Share real stories from LGBTQ+ foster carers
  • Talk about the support available for LGBTQ+ families
  • Discuss how fostering can make a huge difference to young people — including LGBTQ+ young people who may need that extra understanding
  • Answer any questions you have (big or small!)

There’s no pressure and no commitment — just come along, grab a coffee, and find out more.

Who you’ll meet

The session will be hosted by Chido Poe (she/her), a social worker with 14 years’ experience and Banya’s Managing Director. Chido is passionate about creating safe, loving homes for children and is looking forward to meeting you, hearing your thoughts, and answering your questions.
